Update: Bulk of 700 PG&E customers near downtown have power restored after ‘downed wire’

Hundreds of PG&E customers were without power Wednesday morning, following at least two outages near downtown Fresno.

The larger outage affected more than 700 customers in an area between Fresno and Mono streets south of Highway 99 and on both sides of California Avenue. According to PG&E, there was a downed wire in the area, possibly caused by a car crashing into pole.

Power was expected to be restored by 10 a.m.

By 11 :15 a.m. less than 50 customers remained without power, according to PG&E online outage map.

The smaller outage affected more than 200 customers in and around Fulton Street in downtown Fresno, though by 8:45 a.m. power had been restored in that area.

PG&E is reminding residents to use caution if they see a power line down. Always treat the wire as “live.” Stay away, keep others away and call 911. Then report the wire to PG&E at 800-743-5001.
