Cold temps on deck as storm passes through Fresno. Is there more rain to follow?
Fresno’s recent weather can be easily summed up this way: a day or so of rain, followed by cold temperatures.
The forecast is that, on repeat, through early next week.
The National Weather Service says there is a possibility that a trough of low pressure could dip down from the Gulf of Alaska on Sunday. This could mean another round of rain and mountain snow starting late Monday.
But first Fresno has to get past the current storm front, which moved into the area Wednesday night and remained in place through Thursday morning. All told, it is expected to bring in one-tenth to three-tenths of an inch of rain, according to the weather service.
That is well below the 1.29 inches the area received earlier in the week.
The storm should dissipate by Thursday evening, to be replaced by a chilly airmass and cold weather for Friday into the weekend. The weather service predicts some parts of the San Joaquin Valley may not see daily highs above 50 degrees on Friday or Saturday. Lows are expected near or below freezing, especially in rural areas of the Valley.
Afternoon highs are expected to be near normal (read mid 50s) by Sunday.
