Vacant building burns near high school in Fresno. It’s not the first time it’s happened

A vacant building across from Roosevelt High School in southeast Fresno caught fire Monday morning, for at least a second time.

The Fresno Fire Department was dispatched to the commercial fire on Tulare Avenue just east of Cedar Avenue around 6:45 a.m.

Flames could be seen coming from the roof of the building and crews blocked part of Tulare Street to fight the blaze.

The building was vacant, according to Fresno Fire Department public information officer Jonathan Lopez, and had previously caught fire.

There were no injuries reported and no initial word on what may have caused the fire.
