Was your Fresno utility bill payment declined? Here’s why, and how you can pay your bill
The city of Fresno’s utility bill online payment system is temporarily down, but city officials said there are other ways to pay and any late fees stemming from the issue will be waived.
The city’s online payment system is managed by a third-party vendor, and the finance and information technology departments are working to resolve the issue, Assistant City Manager Georgeanne White told the Fresno City Council on Thursday.
White and City Manager Thomas Esqueda became aware of the issue on Wednesday, she said. City staff are working to alert residents of the problem via social media and a notice on the city’s website. Late fees will be waived for customers who pay their bills late because of the problem, White confirmed. It’s unclear how many customers have been affected so far.
“We’re trying to get to the bottom of it as quickly as we can,” she said.
Fresno City Councilmember Esmeralda Soria said she was one of the city customers affected by the problem. Her automatic payment was not completed, she said.
Council President Luis Chavez said his office has received calls from residents seeking answers about the issue.
White said she didn’t want to over promise when the issue would be fixed, but reassured the council that city staff are working as quickly as possible to resolve the issue.
