Firefighters contain blaze at Fresno home, cite transient activity as likely cause

Fresno Fire investigators say an intentionally set blaze heavily damaged a home in southwest Fresno on Friday morning and that it was related to transient activity inside the building.

The fire, at Klette Avenue and Tulare Street near Edison High School, erupted about 8:30 a.m. Battalion Chief Bob Camp said neighbors reported that the building, while apparently vacant, had been used by transients recently.

The fire erupted inside one of the rooms where it appeared that “hoarding activity” was taking place, according to Camp.

When the fire erupted, it quickly spread to the attic, but arriving firefighters were able to limit the damage.
