A driver suffered minor injuries Sunday night after crashing into a parked car and fire hydrant in southeast Fresno, police said.

According to Lt. Brian Valles, the collision happened just after 8 p.m. along Olive Avenue just west of Chestnut Avenue.

A woman in her 30s along with a 9-year-old child were in a car traveling east on Olive, Valles said. The car collided with a parked vehicle and careened into a fire hydrant and telephone pole. Water spewed out of the hydrant flooding the intersection at Olive and Recreation avenues.

Police said that the driver was going at a high rate of speed. No injures were reported.

Valles said officers were evaluating the driver for a potential DUI.

A section of Olive Avenue between Recreation and Chestnut avenues was blocked off until the water was contained.
