Body pulled from a canal in the South Valley in second similar incident this weekend
A body was pulled from a canal Sunday afternoon in Tulare County, the second time sheriff’s Dive Team members have been called on to recover a victim from a waterway this weekend.
Deputies responded just after 2 p.m. to the area of Avenue 208 and Road 228, near Strathmore, on a report of a possible body in a canal.
“When they arrived, divers pulled a body out of the canal,” a Sheriff’s Office news release issued just after 4:30 p.m. stated.
There was no information on what might have led up to the discovery. No identifying information about the person, other than that they were male, was provided.
Anyone with information is asked to call the Sheriff’s Office at 559-733-6218.
Two days earlier, a body was recovered from a stretch of the Friant-Kern Canal. That incident began with a report of a car in the canal.
Friday crash victim ID’d
Sheriff’s officials released the name of the man who died in Friday’s incident.
Robert Lea, 37, of Woodlake wound up in the canal due to a car accident, authorities confirmed Sunday night.
He was recovered downstream from where the vehicle was found.
