Coarsegold man, 19, hit and killed by car. Why was he on Madera roadway?

The California Highway Patrol said it is investigating the death of a 19-year-old man who was struck by a vehicle about 4 a.m. Friday morning on Road 415 near Hidden Knolls Road, close to the Madera County town of Raymond.

The CHP said a 51-year-old driver was eastbound on 415 when she struck something, and turned around and discovered the victim. The driver called 911 and remained at the scene.

The CHP initially reported the victim was a woman, but the Madera County Coroner later Friday confirmed the victim’s identity as William Cody Sible, 19, of Coarsegold.

The CHP said other vehicles may have passed through the area before and after the crash, and may have information about the case. The agency asked that anyone with information about the other vehicles contact the Oakhurst office of the CHP at 559-658-6590.
