Alcohol use suspected in fatal Madera County crash. What CHP investigators know
The California Highway Patrol is investigating whether a one-car crash in which a 27-year-old Madera County man died Thursday morning was alcohol related.
The incident took place about 4:11 a.m. near southbound Highway 99 south of Avenue 13. The CHP said the driver was southbound of Road 28 1/4 south of Avenue 13 when he drove off the left side of the roadway and crashed through a barbed wire fence that borders the highway. The Toyota Matrix spun and overturned. The driver was thrown clear of the car and was pronounced dead at the scene.
His identity will be released by the Madera County Coroner.
