Journalists at The Fresno Bee know you’re looking to us — and we’ve worked hard to deliver the critical information you need to lead informed lives during a global pandemic.

In the last year, The Bee has strengthened efforts to fund local journalism through philanthropy. Those efforts have resulted in the addition of 10 journalists over the past year thanks to contributions from large foundations and small donors like you.
We’ve used this funding to tell stories that weren’t being told. This is not breaking news coverage; it’s deep reporting that adds detail and context. We’ve translated many of these stories for Spanish speakers, expanding reach into underserved communities.
We need your financial support to continue this work. You can contribute here.
Manuela Tobias and Nadia Lopez are funded through grants from the Report for America program. Their work is focused on the intersection of income insecurity, housing and health care with the Latino community in the Valley.
Both have published groundbreaking work.

We examined impacts of systemic racism in west Fresno — an area where half the population lives below the poverty line.
We listened to the community’s fears as a recent spate of gun violence rises — and took a dive into what many think are the root causes.
We analyzed the diversity of Fresno-area elected political leaders and how that has changed over time. This story was highlighted by the Solutions Journalism Network, which is dedicated to improving reporting about responses to social problems.
I’m going to speak frankly: We can’t continue to do this work without you. Your donation will stay in Fresno and will ensure that these important stories are told and delivered to the largest local audience possible.
