Pedestrian dies after being struck by a car in Clovis. Collision under investigation

Clovis police are investigating the death of a 55-year-old man who was hit by a car while pushing a bicycle along West Ashlan Avenue early Sunday morning.

“We arrived and tried to begin life-saving measures,” Clovis Police Lt. Jim Munro said. “EMS was on the scene and started CPR. Unfortunately, they were unable to revive the gentlemen, so he was pronounced dead there.

The collision occurred just before 1 a.m. in the 600 Block of West Ashlan, between Willow and Helm.

Munro said the driver of the vehicle, whose name was not released, was “very cooperative,” and investigators do not believe the driver was under the influence at the time of the crash.

“We will obviously be following up on the deceased to see if that played a part in him being in the roadway,” Munro told the Bee.

The Sheriff’s Office has not yet identified the victim.
