A 10-year-old boy and two drivers died Thursday night in a head-on collision in southeast Fresno.
The Fresno County Coroner named the victims Friday: Richard Blair-Rodriguez, 32, of Fresno was driving a BMW that slammed into a Hyundai driven by Zaira Lamas, 26, of Fresno. The boy was identified as Armando Duran Hernandez of Fresno.
The coroner’s office said the boy’s mother, Lamas’ partner, was in the passenger seat. She was taken to UC Davis Medical Center and was reported in critical condition.
The crashed occurred around 8:15 p.m. at the intersection of Maple and Mono avenues, according to Fresno Police Lt. Tim Tietjen.
Cpt. Anthony Martinez said the BMW was traveling at a high speed and drifted into oncoming traffic on Maple Avenue before colliding head-on with the Hyundai.
