CHP officer hit by alleged DUI driver on side of Highway 99. Here’s what happened
A California Highway Patrol Officer was injured early Saturday morning when his patrol car was struck alongside Highway 99.
The incident happened around 2:24 a.m. while two CHP officers were investigating an abandoned car near Betty Drive in Goshen. The officers were stopped on the side of the highway when their car was struck from behind.
One of the officers was in the car with the door open and was thrown from the vehicle, according to the CHP.
He suffered minor injuries and was taken to Kaweah Delta Medical Center in Visalia. The other officer was outside the car and able to move to safety.
The driver of the other vehicle, identified as a 26-year-old woman, was also injured and taken to the hospital. The woman was intoxicated, according to the CHP, and was arrested on suspicion of DUI.
The officer was at home recovering, the CHP said.
