Fire east of Giant Sequoia National Monument grows to 200 acres

A wildfire burning southeast of Visalia quadrupled in size within four hours Friday as it stretched toward the Giant Sequoia National Monument in Tulare County.

According to Cal Fire, the Castle Fire is now covering 200 acres.

The vegetation fire was initially reported just after 1 p.m. with 40 acres burning and zero containment near Castle Rock, roughly 90 miles southeast of Visalia.
