Car engulfed in flames during fatal collision between two Honda Accords in Fresno County
A man was killed in a traffic collision Thursday night outside of Orange Cove.
The Fresno County Coroner’s Office identified the victim as 18-year-old Hugo Hernandez of Reedley.
According to California Highway Patrol, a black Honda Accord at around 5 p.m. was traveling south on Jacobs Avenue approaching Manning Avenue.
CHP said the driver was crossing the rural Fresno County intersection when he failed to see a silver Honda Accord also crossing the intersection while driving west on Manning.
The silver Honda struck the black Honda on the driver’s side, causing both vehicles to collide with a utility pole.
The black Honda became engulfed in flames.
The driver of the vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene, CHP said.
The driver of the silver Honda suffered minor injuries.
Both drivers were wearing their seat belts at the time of the collision, and alcohol or drugs did not to be a factor in the collision, according to CHP.
