A man in his 60s was struck and killed late Wednesday night by a vehicle in northwest Fresno, police said.

It happened around 11:30 p.m. in the 4700 block of North Jennifer Avenue near West Shaw Avenue, where officers found the man unresponsive on the roadway. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Lt. Bill Dooley said the driver remained on the scene and was cooperative.

The driver told officers he was southbound on Jennifer Avenue and did not see the man standing in the roadway.

Alcohol and drugs are not suspected, Dooley said.
