Fresno County adds nearly 700 new cases in latest report. Hospitals fill up
Fresno County added 685 cases of the coronavirus — but no new deaths — to its running tally on Monday, according to the state Department of Public Health.
The state numbers are always a day behind, so Monday’s total of 10,639 represents the amount counted through Sunday. The county has seen 100 deaths.
Of those who tested positive, 2,332 have recovered.
Fresno County had 269 confirmed COVID-19 patients being treated in local hospitals, according to the most recent data available from the California Department of Public Health. Fifty of those patients are in intensive-care units.
Businesses adapt
California hair and nail salons can operate outside under new guidance released by Gov. Gavin Newsom’s office Monday afternoon, allowing many to do business as the coronavirus outbreak continues.
The guidelines say “outdoor operations may be conducted under a tent, canopy, or other sun shelter as long as no more than one side is closed, allowing sufficient outdoor air movement.”
The modification allows salons and barbershops to serve customers while complying with an emergency order Newsom handed down last week closing down indoor operations for many businesses due to rising COVID-19 numbers.
