Fresno County reports 3 more deaths, 187 new cases of coronavirus. Numbers up regionally

Fresno County reported three more deaths from issues related to COVID-19 on Tuesday and 187 new cases, according to health officials.

Fresno County now has seen 70 fatal cases of the coronavirus among its 3,672 cases, numbers show.

In Fresno County, 83 people with confirmed cases required them to be hospitalized, including 18 in intensive care units since April 1, according to health officials.

Another 39 people who have been hospitalized, including one in an intensive care unit, are suspected of having the virus because of their symptoms. In those cases, the test results are still pending.

Hospitals in Fresno County have a total capacity of 1,229 general acute-care beds plus 149 intensive-care unit beds.

The central San Joaquin Valley has 196 confirmed cases in hospitalized patients, including 41 in intensive care units. Forty-six suspected cases have also been found in hospitalized patients with pending test results, including one in intensive care.

Tulare County added 257 new cases on Tuesday, bringing its countywide total to 3,434. The number of deaths remained unchanged Tuesday at 116.

Kings County has seen 942 cases of coronavirus and 20 deaths since the beginning of the pandemic, according to the evening update. That includes 28 new cases and one death reported Tuesday.

The county’s prisons have found 1,129 cases and single death. Nursing facilities in Kings County have recorded 106 cases but no deaths, according to health officials.

Merced County tallied 49 new cases to reach 710 during the pandemic. The number of deaths remained at nine on Tuesday.

Madera County reported 15 new positive cases, bringing the total there to 359, but the county did not report any new deaths Tuesday. The total number of fatal cases remains at five.

Mariposa County has confirmed 21 cases of the coronavirus and reported a single death.
