Fresno celebrates Black Lives Matter Day with street painting, chalk art

About 200 people came together in front of Fresno City Hall on Thursday morning for the Black Lives Matter Annual Proclamation and Street Art Event.

The highlight was painting “BLACK LIVES MATTER” on the P Street roadway.

“BLACK” was painted in yellow; “LIVES” in yellow, white, purple and black; “MATTER” in red, orange, yellow, green, blue and purple.

Below, organizers added “THE VALLEY” with the big V in green.

The Fresno City Council proclaimed Thursday “Black Lives Matter Day.”

DJ Kay Rich led the community painting project. Concurrently, residents were encouraged to come and express their own unique feelings on systemic racial injustice and support for the Black community and the Black Lives Matter movement with chalk art in the surrounding area.
