Residents near Pine Flat asked to evacuate due to brush fires that are threatening homes

Fire crews are battling three brush fires that are threatening homes near Pine Flat in Fresno County.

According to Fresno County Sheriff’s Lt. Matt Alexander, deputies were knocking on doors of homes in the area of Maxon Road and East Trimmer Springs Road on Friday to warn residents and ask them to evacuate.

The collective blaze, now called the Hog Fire, was threatening some homes and other structures.

The Hog Fire broke out in the area of Lakeview Marina near the 33000 block of East Trimmer Springs Road.

As of 7:30 a.m. Saturday, Cal Fire reported the fire had spread to 600 acres at 10 percent containment.

Fire officials estimated about 10 homes had been evacuated in the area. The evacuation orders were lifted just before 11:30 a.m. on Saturday.

No homes have been damaged or injuries have been reported, according to Calfire. Smoke could be an issue at the recreation areas near Pine Flat and in the communities of Piedra, Centerville and Minkler.

About 80 firefighters are on hand, according to Calfire spokesperson Seth Brown.

The cause of the fire was under investigation.
