Fresno County reports another death from COVID-19, more than 135 new infections
Fresno County added another 139 cases of coronavirus to its running total on Monday and reported another death.
Monday’s report is the county’s latest batch of coronavirus numbers since Saturday.
The county has tallied 1,882 positive cases since the beginning of the pandemic and now a total of 36 people in Fresno County have succumbed to conditions related to COVID-19, according to health officials.
A total of 543 patients have recovered in Fresno County since the start of the pandemic.
Nearly 400 new cases were reported on Sunday in Kings County, where an outbreak at Avenal State Prison has been confirmed. Of the 1,122 cases across the county, 619 are among inmates at the prison. The county also reported another coronavirus-related death Sunday. So far, five people have died in the county due to COVID-19.
Tulare County reported five new deaths on Monday. Eighty-nine people in the county have now died from related illness.
A total of 1,897 patients have tested positive for COVID-19 in Tulare County through Monday.

Merced County reported 18 new cases on Monday, the first report since Friday, bringing the total to 301. Seven people have died from conditions related to the virus.
Madera County has tallied two deaths since the start of the pandemic, but no new deaths Monday. Eight new cases reported Monday brings the total amount of positive cases to 114, health officials said.
Mariposa County has counted 16 cases and a single death through Monday.
More than 1.8 million people have tested positive nationally, according to The COVID Tracking Project and Johns Hopkins University CSSE. More than 104,000 COVID-19 patients have died in the country, including more than 4,200 Californians.
