Fresno County parks and campgrounds reopened, with safeguards in place
All County of Fresno parks and campgrounds were reopened on Monday with safeguards in place to protect the health and safety of the public during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The public is asked to limit groups to 10 people or fewer and to wear face masks when proper social distancing cannot be maintained. The county parks and campgrounds also will operate at 50% capacity, and play structures and group picnic shelters within the facilities will remain closed until further notice.
“We’ve got some really popular (parks and campgrounds) out there, especially right now,” said Jordan Scott, a county spokesman. “As you can imagine, people are trying to get out there and we want people to get out there.
“We’re doing the best we can to help folks stay safe. It’s kind of a soft launch back into normal. Obviously we have some measures in place that folks aren’t really used to and we’re just hoping for patience as we slowly get back to some state of normalcy.”
County of Fresno parks and campgrounds including Avocado Lake, Choinumni Park, Courthouse Park, China Creek Park and Skaggs Bridge Park have been closed since April 3 due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Social distancing guidance will be placed throughout the parks and campgrounds. Park hours through Sept. 30 are 7 a.m. to 10 p.m.
