Cars lined up for country fair fare: Did you get some of those famed cinnamon rolls?
Cinnamon roll lovers were willing to wait it out in their cars Saturday to get a box of their favorite fair food, made by The Country Fair Cinnamon Rolls of Oakhurst.
Many people, familiar with the sweet treats from The Big Fresno Fair and Big Hat Days at Old Town Clovis among other events, got in their cars and drove to the West Shaw location by Pardini’s.
But this time, amid the coronavirus pandemic, they had a much longer wait, sometimes for hours.
Some even had time and the need to get out and stretch as the line wrapped into a neighborhood at Crystal Avenue to West Santa Ana Avenue before eventually ending up at the mobile location along West Shaw.
The drive-thru grab-and-go began at 9 a.m. and lasted past its intended 4 p.m. shutdown but still ran out of rolls before serving everyone in line.
“Thank you so much for all the love and support today,” Country Fair’s Erin Magdaleno wrote on Facebook. “I interacted with every single customer today and I am so grateful for the all the positive feedback and excited people I got to talk to. I realize that the wait time was less than desirable and that people in the surrounding neighborhoods weren’t very pleased with the added chaos but now we know what to work on in the future as this was the first drive thru experience we have had. We will move to a different location when we find a spot that will be ideal for the added traffic and limit rolls to 12 rolls a car to make it a quicker more ideal wait time.”
Country Fair also serves frozen you-bake packages at various locations including Fresno Ag Hardware, True Value hardware stores in Clovis, south Fresno and Oakhurst, Hillside Supermarket in Yosemite Lakes Park, Madera Ranchos Market and the Chevron in Chowchilla.
