A Fresno County Sheriff’s deputy escaped serious injury Sunday night when he was involved in a collision in northwest Fresno.

Spokesman Tony Botti said the crash took place about 8 p.m. as the deputy was westbound on West Shaw Avenue responding to an emergency call. Another driver, southbound on North West Avenue, apparently did not hear the deputy’s siren or see the emergency lights on the deputy’s pickup. The truck flipped after impact. Both the deputy and the driver of the other vehicle were checked out at the scene, but the deputy went to a hospital for an additional evaluation.
