‘Momentary’ power outage for 69,000 in Fresno, PG&E reports

A “momentary” outage to power lines in Fresno briefly cut power to an estimated 69,000 customers shortly after noon Monday, PG&E reported.

Power was quickly restored. PG&E spokesman Denny Boyles said most of the customers hit by the 12:03 p.m. outage were in northwest Fresno, and power was back on by 12:15 p.m.

“We were able to test the lines and verify all were operational,” Boyles said.

According to PG&E, a momentary outage is usually the cause when lights flicker at home during storms or during high wind. It is caused by short disruptions in the grid, which can activate safety devices such as fuses or switches.
