Fresno City College orders employees over 65 to stay home; Selma schools will close

Workers at Fresno City College more than 65 years old were told Monday morning to stay home because of the coronavirus pandemic.

Just before 1 p.m., college officials advised they were closing the City College campus.

“Please take an abundance of caution, as we are closing the FCC campus today. Coordinate with your supervisors to work remotely from home, with the exception of essential staff. Please leave the campus as soon as possible. Thank You,” the message said.

Also Monday, officials in Selma announced that schools will close.

The Fresno City College order was issued by President Carole Goldsmith, and also includes all employees with health issues. The employees are being asked to work from home and check their email frequently.

“Everyone’s health is our first priority,” said Dr. Becky Barabe, the schools dean of Applied Technology, who authored the email to employees.
