Tulare County reports first case of coronavirus. Officials say person went to public areas

A person has tested positive for the coronavirus (COVID-19) in Tulare County, the Tulare County Health and Human Service’s Public Health Branch reported late Wednesday.

It is believed to be Tulare County’s the first documented case of coronavirus.

The individual is in stable condition and it is believed that the virus was contracted out of the area, Tulare County Public Health Branch Officer Dr. Karen Haught said in a news release.

The Tulare County Health and Human Service’s Public Health Branch is currently conducting an investigation, the release said.

Health officials said they will provide more information Thursday morning about the virus, the status of the case, coordination efforts, and other updates.

Latest case in San Joaquin Valley

A handful of coronavirus cases have been reported in the San Joaquin Valley since Saturday, when Madera County confirmed its first case after a resident returned from a recent Princess Cruise trip.

Later the same day, the Fresno County Department of Public Health announced an elderly man tested positive returning from a cruise Friday.

Up north, Stanislaus County confirmed two cases of coronavirus on Wednesday.
