Early morning apartment fire in Fresno injures 3, displaces 12

An early morning fire Saturday at a central Fresno apartment building injured three people and displaced a dozen residents whose apartments were damaged.

The fire broke out at about 2:30 a.m. in the 3600 block of North Pleasant Avenue, several blocks south of Dakota Avenue, a Fresno Fire Department spokesman said. By the time the fire was controlled, 36 firefighters had responded to the incident.

Two people received minor injuries and one person suffered moderate injuries, said Jonathan Lopez, a public information officer for the fire department. Four apartments were damaged, 12 residents including two children were forced from their apartments because of damage.

No cause for the fire has been determined yet, Lopez said.
