Tim Joslin, president and CEO of Fresno-based Community Medical Centers for the past 15 years, will step down from the position this summer.

Joslin’s retirement will be effective July 3, when Craig Castro will take over the role. Castro is currently Community’s executive vice president and chief operating officer.

Community Medical Centers is the largest health system in the San Joaquin Valley, with more than 1,100 inpatient beds across Community Regional Medical Center in downtown Fresno, Clovis Community Medical Center, the Fresno Heart & Surgical Hospital, and Community Behavioral Heath Center. The organization employs about 8,600 workers.

“Now it is simply time for me to move on to the next chapter in life,” Joslin, 59, said in a prepared statement.

Before joining Community in July 2005, Joslin was the CEO of Doctors Medical Center in Modesto.

Farid Assemi, chairman of Community’s board of directors, credited Joslin with expanding services and capacity at the organization’s facilities as well as growing the local physician network, creating a local health insurance plan, and boosting the organization’s financial ratings.
