Snapchat users follow along as police negotiate with Fresno man to come out of home
Around 100 people, mostly teens, gathered across from a home in northeast Fresno on Saturday night and watched along through Snapchat videos as police crowded outside attempting to get a wanted man to come out.
The unidentified man is accused of making threats against his neighbors and is also in violation of his parole, according to Fresno police.
After police entered the home on Cedar and Everglade avenues around 8 p.m., the man peacefully surrendered, police said.
Police cars had blocked off the street and a Fresno County Sheriff’s Office K9 was also at the scene.
The man, who has not been identified by police, appears to have been posting on Snapchat since at least Friday. In the videos, the walls inside the home are partially torn down. The man goes to the door and talks with police in one video, but never goes outside.
In other videos, people go up to the home and talk to him from outside the window, or drive by.
Negotiators monitored Snapchat, using the maps feature, police say.
Some onlookers say they saw the Snapchat videos and decided to come out.
