One hurt, another displaced in two-alarm northeast Fresno house fire

A fire that erupted Tuesday morning in northeast Fresno injured one person and heavily damaged a home near North Chestnut and East Nees avenues, the Fresno Fire Department reported.

The blaze was reported about 8 a.m. in the 8200 block of North Barton Avenue, and firefighters quickly upgraded it to a second alarm when it was reported that a woman was trapped inside the home.

Fire Chief Kerri Donis said firefighters quickly made entry and were able to rescue the victim by taking her out a back door. She was rushed to a hospital, and a second resident was treated at the scene.

The cause of the fire and the amount of damage were under investigation.
