Victim in fatal northwest Fresno train collision identified by coroner’s office
A man walking on the train tracks was struck and killed when an Amtrak came rolling through Thursday night in northwest Fresno, according to Fresno police.
The victim — identified Thursday by the Fresno County Coroner’s Office as as Ryan Eversole, 43, of Fresno — died immediately, police added.
The incident happened around 8:30 p.m. near the dead end of Barstow Avenue just east of Valentine Avenue.
The area often has been used as a shortcut for people walking to or from the nearby neighborhood to the shopping area located just south of where the incident occurred.
The Amtrak was traveling north.
