Earthquake rattles eastern Sierra Nevada. Did you feel it?
A magnitude 4.4 earthquake shook the eastern Sierra Nevada mountains on Saturday morning, and was felt by some central San Joaquin Valley residents.
The quake struck at 10:36 a.m. near Mammoth Lakes, California, a popular ski area in Mono County, according to information from the United States Geological Survey.
Shaking was light to moderate in the immediate area, according to the USGS, and could be felt as far away as Lemoore and Porterville.
About 19 minutes later, a 3.1 quake struck the same area, according to USGS data.
There were no immediate reports of damage.
Valley residents felt the quake
Some residents felt nothing during the quake, but others felt a light shaking.
Several Selma residents reacted to the shaking on Facebook.
“Yes, I felt it,” Valerie Zapata wrote. “It was pretty scary when you(’re) home alone.”
“Felt like someone bumped my chair,” said Shante Renee Coker.
Teri Preheim said she felt shaking at Clovis Community Hospital. “Thought it was just me!?” she wrote. “Crazy.”
