Some of Fresno County’s most powerful women will share stage at empowering event
Some of the most well-know and powerful women in Fresno will join forces for an upcoming Girls Scouts event to convey one common message: “Woman can Lead the Way!”
That’s the theme for the March 28 event, which is designed to empower girls aged 12 to 17 about working careers in male-dominated fields.
Fresno County Sheriff Margaret Mims, Fresno Fire Chief Kerris Donis, District Attorney Lisa Smittcamp and councilmember Esmeralda Soria will be the featured guests for a speaking lineup geared to empowering women.
Army Sgt. Alexendra Barragan and Fresno State professor Dr. Kizzy Lopez also will be featured guests.
The event is scheduled for 10 a.m.- 12:30 p.m. at the Fresno City Hall of Council Chambers.
Admission is free for its targeted audience of girls 12-17. Organizers do ask that an adult accompany any children and teenagers wishing to attend the event.
In addition to the panel discussion, there will be group activities and networking opportunities.
The event was put together by a local teenage girl who’s a member of the Girl Scouts of Central California South. It will help her earn a silver award, which is the second highest honor a girl scout can receive.
