Coarsegold man on foot killed crossing Highway 41, CHP reports

A 35-year-old Coarsegold man was killed Monday evening when he was struck and killed while trying to walk across Highway 41, the California Highway Patrol reported.

The man, who was not identified pending notification of family, was hit by a Vallejo man driving a 2005 Toyota, said the CHP.

The collision took place just before 6 p.m. north of Yosemite Springs Parkway as Dean H. Eckerson, 55, was northbound on 41. The CHP said the victim walked directly in front of the Toyota and died at the scene.
