Woman walking on 41 killed by big rig in Kings County

A woman walking across Highway 41 in Kings County was struck and killed by a big rig Monday afternoon, the California Highway Patrol reported.

The collision took place about 5:45 p.m. south of the Hanford Armona Road. The CHP said that Arturo Herrera, 41, of Guadalupe was southbound on 41 in a 2014 Kenworth when the woman, who has not yet been identified by the Kings County Coroner, walked west across the highway, into the path of the truck. Herrera was unable to stop in time and the woman died at the scene.
