Railway arms blocking traffic near Fresno City College. Police say avoid the area

BNSF Railroad track arms near Fresno City College snarled traffic Friday morning, according to Fresno police.

The arms near McKinley and Blackstone avenues came down around 8 a.m. and remain down, according to Lt. Mark Hudson. Traffic in the area began to backup as the arms blocked cars from crossing the railway.

Police recommend drivers avoid the area if possible. Officers are waiting on railroad officials to respond to the scene, so the arms may remain down for a significant amount of time, police said.
