Police investigating discovery of body in canal in central Fresno
Fresno police are investigating the discovery of a body found in a central Fresno canal Tuesday afternoon.
The incident was reported to officers about 1 p.m. near Broadway Street and East Belmont Avenue. Lt. Mark Hudson said the victim appeared to be a white male. The body was found by a passerby crossing a bridge.
Homicide detectives were sent to the scene as firefighters pulled the body from the water. It was not known whether foul play was involved in the incident.
The man was identified Wednesday, May 15, as Kenneth Bass, 47, of Fresno.
