Men’s Club to hold casino night, present check
The Saint Agnes Men’s Club will present a $235,000 donation to Saint Agnes Medical Center during the club’s Casino Night fundraiser on Saturday, April 13.
The club is described as a group of philanthropic men who have raised more than $3.5 million for the hospital and its special programs since 1983, according to hospital spokesperson Malissa Trenholm.
The event, held at the Signature Flight Airplane Hangar at Fresno Yosemite International Airport, will feature a silent and live auction, casino gaming, food and dancing. The black tie and glam gown event begins at 6 p.m. and is hosted by former Fresno State football coach Pat Hill.

Chorus performance will benefit wildfire victims
The West Coast Mennonite Men’s Chorus will hold a free concert to benefit California wildfire victims on Saturday, April 13.
The 120-person chorus, comprised of central San Joaquin Valley and Central Coast residents, will perform at the Riverpark Bible Church at 7500 N. Millbrook Ave. at 7 p.m.
Money raised will help victims in Lake Isabella and Paradise rebuild their homes.

Madera County Library to reopen with celebration
The Madera County Library will hold a celebration for its reopening on Tuesday, April 16 at 8:30 a.m.
The Madera County Board of Supervisors approved funding for improvements in June 2018 and the project finished two weeks ahead of schedule, according to the county.
The library, at 121 N. G St., received new interior and exterior paint, new flooring, moving services, new furniture and a new reception desk.
Cardiologist receives Champion in Care award
Saint Agnes Medical Center honored Dr. Alfred G. Valles with the 2019 Champion in Care award on March 30.
The cardiologist received the award at the hospital’s National Doctor’s Day Celebration at Haron Jaguar Land Rover in downtown Fresno, according to hospital spokesperson Malissa Trenholm.
Valles has worked for Saint Agnes since 2012.
Madera Community Hospital named employer of the year
San Joaquin Valley College named Madera Community Hospital as the 2019 employer of the year.
According to hospital spokeswoman Sherrie Bakke, the hospital invested more than $120,000 in pre-graduate clinical training through partnerships with local high schools, adult schools and colleges.
In addition, the hospital supported 12 students through externships, giving them hands-on, practical skills.
Tachi Palace donates to United Cerebral Palsy
The Tachi Palace Hotel and Casino presented a check for $8,062.04 to United Cerebral Palsy during its monthly community breakfast in March.
More than 500 people attended the breakfast, and a total of $4,031.02 was raised at the door, according to Tachi spokesperson Kristy Kneiding. The casino and the Santa Rosa Rancheria tribe matched the amount.
The money will help over 1,100 people and their families in the Central Valley.
The next community breakfast will be held April 26 and will benefit the Central Section, local governing body of high school athletics.
