High temperatures in the central San Joaquin Valley stayed in double digits Saturday, but Bakersfield hit 100 degrees, the National Weather Service in Hanford said.

Fresno reached a high of 99 degrees, said meteorologist Brian Ochs with the weather service.

He said there’s one more hot day — Sunday’s predicted high in Fresno is 97 — before a cooldown starting Monday and continuing the rest of the week with temperatures expected to stay in the 80s.

Rain is not expected in the lower elevations during the week, but there is a chance of rain Thursday in the Sierra at elevations above 8,000 feet, Ochs said.

Ochs added some heat reminders: stay indoors when possible, stay hydrated and don’t leave pets and children in hot places for prolonged periods.
