Free blood pressure checks at Fashion Fair mall Thursday

Kaiser Permanente Fresno is offering free blood pressure checks 1-5 p.m. Thursday at Fashion Fair Mall.

The public is invited to get free blood pressure checks and learn more about stroke prevention by visiting a booth inside the mall between Macy’s Men’s & Children’s store and JCPenney store.

Kaiser is teaming with the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association to offer the blood pressure checks and other information as a way to raise awareness about strokes, which is the fifth-leading cause of death in the United States.

Information about the FAST stroke warning signs (Face drooping, Arm weakness, Speech difficulty,

Time to call 911) will be available along with other tips for reducing stroke risk and other cardiovascular events.

May is Stroke Awareness Month and a good time for people to be reminded about stroke warning signs and what they can do if they think someone is having a stroke. Someone in the United States has a stroke every 40 seconds, but 80% of strokes are preventable.
