Head-on collision kills Kingsburg man on Highway 41 in Lemoore

A Kingsburg man died Tuesday after colliding into oncoming traffic on rural Highway 41 in Lemoore, the CHP reported.

Adam Baressi, CHP spokesman, said the accident happened about 11:30 a.m. A 1995 Honda Civic was going south on Highway 41 near Jersey Avenue. The Honda veered into oncoming traffic, striking a Dodge pickup truck head-on. A third vehicle swerved to avoid the collision and crashed into a tree.

The driver of the Honda, a 25-year-old Kingsburg man, was killed, Baressi said. He was the only person in the vehicle.

An elderly Shaver Lake couple in the pickup truck was airlifted to Community Regional Medical Center in Fresno. Their condition was unknown, Baressi said. The driver of the third vehicle did not require hospital treatment.

Highway 41 from Jackson to Jersey avenues was closed for several hours following the crash.

The CHP’s investigation is continuing.
