Repair needs on highways and roads in Fresno County and the central San Joaquin Valley will be the focus of a public forum Wednesday afternoon in downtown Fresno.

The forum by the California Transportation Commission, regional transportation agencies and Fresno business organizations begins at 2 p.m. at DoubleTree Hotel, 2233 Ventura St. Exhibits will be open from 2 to 2:30 p.m., and presentations and discussion are planned from 2:30 to 4 p.m.

Among the topics for discussion are state and county funding for projects that include improvements to Highway 99, how transportation affects economic growth and regional competitiveness, short- and long-term transportation needs in the Valley, and how to increase money for highway and road maintenance.

Details are available on the California Transportation Commission’s website .

The forum comes a day before Thursday’s California Transportation Commission meeting, also at the DoubleTree. That meeting begins at 8:30 a.m. and is open to the public.
