Crash knocks out power east of Fresno

About 150 Pacific Gas & Electric Co. customers were left without power early Wednesday after a car collided with a power pole east of Fresno, the utility reported.

The crash occurred shortly before 5 a.m. near Olive and Temperance avenues as a rainstorm swept over the central San Joaquin Valley. Additional information about the crash was not available from the California Highway Patrol. The roadway was shut down on Olive near the scene.

The National Weather Service in Hanford said that rainfall would continue off and on through Thursday, with a possible chance of thunderstorms at times.

The rain caused some areas of flooding in the Fresno metropolitan area, including Highway 99 ramps at Olive and Stanislaus avenues.

The weather service also cautioned drivers in the Sierra Nevada to be alert for rockslides.
