Bomb threat forces evacuation at Tulare City Hall before all-clear given
The Tulare Police Department spent several hours investigating a bomb threat at City Hall on Tuesday but no bomb was found.
All city employees were evacuated to a safe area, police said.
About 9 a.m. Tuesday, Tulare police were contacted by the Porterville Police Department regarding a letter it had received with a “specific threat” to the Tulare City Hall, police said.
The Tulare Police Department asked the Tulare County Sheriff’s Department to send its K-9 unit to search the building for any suspected devices.
“The building has been cleared with nothing of concern,” police reported on the department’s Facebook page.
As the K-9 officers and dogs searched the building, detectives were working with Porterville police on the letter and its credibility.
Anyone with additional information about the incident is urged to call the Tulare Police Department at 559-684-4290, or anonymously at 559-685-2300, ext. 4445.
Nearby Tulare Union High was also notified about the bomb threat and evacuation, police said.
