Blaze on high speed rail property investigated by Fresno fire department

A fire that erupted inside a vacant warehouse-type structure on Golden State Boulevard south of Jensen Avenue was under investigation Friday, the Fresno Fire Department reported.

Spokesman Robert Castillo said when smoke was reported to be streaming from the building, firefighters arrived to find that a person inside might have started the small blaze.

The smoke from the building increased as firefighters set up fans to clear the building. Castillo said it was possible that the person started a warming fire in the building. The building is apparently the property of the state’s high speed rail project.

A fire investigator and police were sent to the location.
