Girl pulled from underwater at Millerton Lake
An unconscious girl was pulled from the water at Millerton Lake’s McKenzie Point shortly before 6 p.m. Sunday, ranger supervisor Steve Barber said.
The girl was transported to St. Agnes Medical Center by California Highway Patrol medics, Barber said. Her condition was unknown, he said.
The girl was swimming with her family at McKenzie Point, which was not manned by a lifeguard, Barber said. She was not wearing a life jacket. A passerby reported her condition to park officials, who had four lifeguards in the water in under 90 seconds, Barber said. The girl was pulled from the water in under two minutes, and CPR other rescue efforts were immediately performed, he said.
Barber advised all visitors to Millerton to wear life jackets when in the water and swim near lifeguards.
