Adoption center celebrates 5 years

Miss Winkles Pet Adoption Center in Clovis is celebrating its fifth anniversary on Nov. 17 with crafts, food trucks and a raffle.

The adoption center, located at 85 Temperance Ave., has found homes for over 4,000 animals in the past five years, spokeswoman Taylor Mosher said.

The event runs from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and will feature animals available for adoption and 4,000 spinning pinwheels in the park next door.

Fresno City joins #GivingTuesday

Fresno City College’s student pantry is participating for the first time in #GivingTuesday, a global online campaign that encourages giving back to the community on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving.

The State Center Community College Foundation Board will match the first $5,000, and the goal is to raise $50,000 for Ram Pantry, according to the college.

A #GivingTuesday event will be held at the main fountain at the college on Nov. 27 from 2 to 4 p.m.

Volunteers improve VFW Post 8900

More than 60 volunteers from Home Depot spent their day off Nov. 8 helping make the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8900 more energy efficient, part of the company’s eighth annual Celebration of Service campaign.

Granville donation provides 825 coats

Granville Homes and the Foundation for Central Schools delivered new coats and jackets to 825 Central Unified students Nov. 7. Granville donated $15,000 which went to buy coats and toward an upcoming canned food drive.
