Body of man recovered from canal in southwest Fresno

Fresno police Wednesday recovered the body of a man from a canal at Nielsen and Hughes avenues in southwest Fresno.

Lt. Mark Hudson said the recovery took place about 11:30 a.m.

Homicide detectives were on the scene of the incident, but Hudson said at least preliminarily, the death was not being treated as a homicide.

The man was identified by the Fresno County Coroner’s Office on Thursday as Kenneth Swanbeck, 62, of Fresno.
