Woman on highway struck, killed by pickup truck near Porterville

A 45-year-old woman who walked onto a highway was struck and killed by a pickup truck Thursday night in the Porterville area, the California Highway Patrol reported.

The crash occurred about 9:45 p.m. on Highway 65, north of Olive Avenue. Truck driver Kenneth Stroub, 40, of Porterville was southbound on the highway when his Toyota Tacoma hit the woman.

The cause is under investigation.
